Dr. James Rydland
Dr. James Rydland is superintendent of School District 129 serving West Aurora. Dr. Rydland has been the Assistant Superintendent of the North Thurston School District, headquartered in Lacey, Washington. Dr. Rydland began his career in education in 1975 as a special education teacher in the North Thurston schools. He served as assistant principal of one of the middle schools and principal of an elementary school in the North Thurston district. He became Director of Curriculum/Secondary Education in 1983. In 1992, he became Assistant Superintendent of the district, with broad responsibilities that included all the human resource and personnel functions. Dr. Rydland has a B.A. in psychology and M.A. in Special Education from the University of Washington, Seattle, and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Washington State University.
