Newsweek included IMSA among the “Public Elites” in its list of 19 public secondary educational institutions with the highest ACT and SAT scores in the nation.
The New York Times named IMSA among the top two dozen educational institutions in the nation that regularly produce finalists in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search.
The College Board Advanced Placement program recognized IMSA as having the strongest results in the world among like-size schools for AP Physics C: Mechanics and for AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism.
Student Inquiry at IMSA is one of only 15 science education models in the nation to be featured in the National Science Teachers Association book, Exemplary Science in Grades 9-12.
IMSA’s innovative Student Inquiry and Research Program has enabled students to earn numerous awards and recognition from national and global competitions including Intel Science Talent Search, Siemens Westinghouse Competition, American Junior Academy of Science at the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM) and the International Physics Olympiad.
As undergraduate and graduate students, IMSA alumni receive numerous academic, research and leadership accolades including Fulbright, Marshall, National Science Foundation, Rhodes, Truman and Siebel Scholarships.
IMSA’s highly accomplished alumni are forging new frontiers as nationally recognized scientists, entrepreneurs, policy makers and leaders in other fields. Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, Good Morning America and The Wall StreetJournalfeatured IMSA grads for their creation of blockbuster technological applications that improve the way we live, learn and work.
Nearly 23,500 educators and 60,000 students in Illinois and beyond have benefited from IMSA’s professional development programs and student enrichment/pathway programs.
IMSA’s models of teaching and learning are recognized abroad. Delegations of educators from countries including Australia, China, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand come to IMSA to study curriculum and instruction models.
