Strategic Planning
For three days in early September 2006, a 29-person team met to create a new IMSA strategic plan. Two-thirds of team members were IMSA faculty and staff from all disciplines, and one-third were members of IMSA's extended community and beyond - alumni, student, parent, Trustees, Fund Board members, a former State Superintendent of Schools and a national technology for learning expert. The team was led by Bill Cook, founder of The Cambridge Group, the nation's best-known and most experienced consultant in strategic planning for education. Bill also led IMSA's original strategic planning 20 years ago, using the same process design. The planning team defined a number of common beliefs, a new mission, objectives, and strategies that will guide IMSA into the future. Action teams developed action plans for each strategy. The IMSA Board of Trustees approved most of the strategic plan in May 2007 and completed the plan in January 2008.
