Resources for Student Inquiry and Research
Transportation to Off-Campus sites
On most I-Days (usually Wednesdays) all SIR students who are conducting investigations at off-campus sites are required to journey to those facilities to work directly with the investigation advisors.
IMSA-chartered buses serve a large number of SIR off-campus sites. Only IMSA students who have approved off-campus investigations are permitted to ride these buses. Under special circumstances, it may be necessary for the student to arrange for alternative transportation arrangements to the off-campus site; the Coordinator of Student Inquiry and Research must authorize such requests after receiving written parental approval of the alternative arrangements.
Bus Schedules
A past charter-bus schedule illustrates typical routes, locations, and times of pick up/drop off for students conducting off-campus investigations. The bus schedules are determined by routing factors as well as opening and closing times of off-campus facilities. All buses must adhere to their posted schedules, due to the number of students and stops involved in the regular route.
If students miss their bus, they will be responsible for the cost and arrangements for their transportation for that day.
Bus Routes and Stops
Funding constraints and length of travel between IMSA and off-campus sites for SIR investigations affect how many stops can be accommodated on each bus route. It may, or may not, be possible to add stops to an existing bus route. It is unlikely that a new bus route can be added.
