Distinguished Alumni Named to IMSA President's Advisory Council

Twelve outstanding alumni of The Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy (IMSA) have been named to the newly created IMSA President’s Alumni Advisory Council (IPAAC). The main functions of the council, which will meet three times per year, will be to help IMSA envision possibilities for its future, identify ways to strengthen IMSA programs and resources, and design strategies to achieve optimal results.

“I have always known that IMSA alumni would be one of our greatest resources ‘one day,’ “ said IMSA President Dr. Stephanie Pace Marshall. “What has become clear to me is that ‘one day’ is here.”

“Many graduates of IMSA are fearless learners, integrative thinkers, highly skilled researchers, creative problem finders and solvers, ethical leaders, and responsible stewards,” said Marshall. “They represent the ‘return on investment’ that the Governor, General Assembly and the People of Illinois envisioned when IMSA was established.”

The twelve IMSA graduates were selected because they have distinguished themselves in graduate or post-graduate work or in the workforce, have taken their educational experiences and turned them into successful outcomes, have demonstrated innovative thinking and an ability to see the “big picture.”

“I know they also possess a deeply felt desire and commitment to help insure IMSA’s vitality, influence, impact and sustainability,” said Marshall. A list of the IPAAC members and their original hometowns follows.
