IMSA Students Qualify to Take USA Math Olympiad

AURORA-- Six students from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) are among the 250 nationally who have qualified to take the USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO). IMSA had the fifth highest number of qualifying students in the nation.
IMSA qualifiers are Yuan Gong of Chicago, Abhi Gulati of Bloomington, Daniel Gulotta of Naperville, Joe Jia of Aurora, Albert Ni of Naperville and Brandon Reizman of Cary.
Students qualify to take the USAMO based on their previous scores on the American Mathematics Competition (AMC-12) Exam and the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME). High scorers on the USAMO, held April 29 and 30, will be invited to train for the USA International Mathematical Olympiad team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, June 15-July 5, 2003.
This year, the U.S. team will compete internationally in Japan, July 7-19.
