IMSA CONCERT HELD IN REMEMBRANCE OF STUDENT

AURORA-- The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) invites the community to attend the 10th Annual Julie Y. Namkung Memorial Fund Concert on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m.

The concert, which will be held outdoors on the Academy’s east lawn, will feature IMSA’s Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Bel Canto and Concert Choir. Guests are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy selections from West Side Story, Lord of the Rings, Chicago, and a selection of Sousa marches.

The Julie Y. Namkung Memorial Fund was established in 1994 by family, friends and teachers in remembrance of Julie, a 1991 IMSA graduate. As an IMSA student, Julie was active in a variety of programs including tennis and orchestra. Following her IMSA graduation, she entered the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University and received a B.A. degree in chemistry posthumously.

Julie planned to attend Northwestern University Medical School in the fall of 1994 on a Navy scholarship to fulfill her childhood dream to become a pediatrician.

The concert also includes the presentation of a music scholarship named in Julie’s honor.
