IMSA Student Earns U.S. Physics Team Honor

IMSA STUDENT EARNS U.S. PHYSICS TEAM HONOR
AURORA—Timothy Credo, a junior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), was selected to be a member of the United States Physics Team. Only 24 students nationally are chosen for the 2004 team from a pool of 1,500 nominees. IMSA senior Paul Bierdz of Oak Forest also was named a semi-finalist in the competition.Credo, of Highland Park, was selected as a member of the team based on a semi-final exam, his transcript and academic summary, an application and letter of recommendation. As a result of making the team, Credo will attend nine days of intensive training and problem-solving this month at the University of Maryland. Five members of the team will be chosen to represent the U.S. at the International Physics Olympiad in Pohang and Gyeongju, South Korea.
