IMSA Kids Institute® Distributes Free Real Science CDs To Educators

AURORA, IL – Students at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy IMSA Kids Institute® have released Real Science 2003, an interactive science CD-ROM designed for upper elementary school students (grades 3-6) to spark their interest in science. Real Science 2003 is funded by a grant from BP.

The recently-released 2003 issue was developed by the following Real Science IMSA Kids Institute Inquiry students: Kemi Azeez ‘04 of Chicago, Rupa Baskaran ‘04 of Homewood, Adam Carpenter ‘03 of Lake Forest, Joanna Chen ‘04 of Lisle, Jonathan Laguardia ‘03 of Chicago, Sanaa Qamar ‘04 of Flossmoor, and Britta Teller ‘04 of Springfield. The concept and first issue of Real Science was developed in 1995 by IMSA alums Michael Brody ’95 of Highland Park and Arvind Sekar ’96 of Danville. Last year, copies of Real Science 2002 were mailed to 700 Illinois schools and educators.

The Real Science 2003 CD-ROM features articles on the following topics: Architecture in Paris, Atomic Structure and the Elements, Cartesian Diver Lab, Dinosaurs!, Aircraft and Flight, Fossil Lab, Fossils, an interview with Paleontologist Jack Horner, Laws of Motion and Gravity, the Muscular System, the Nervous System, Scientific Method, and the Brain.
