PRICE NAMED IMSA VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADVANCEMENT

AURORA—Suzyn M. Price of Naperville has been named vice president for advancement at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA). She will direct resource development, alumni relations and marketing and communications activities to increase and sustain public and private support for IMSA’s work to improve mathematics and science teaching and learning.
Her responsibilities will include leading the strategic and operational planning of five key area of IMSA’s Advancement program including marketing and communications; development/fundraising; alumni relations; advancement services and advancement management. This also includes oversight of the IMSA Fund for Advancement of Education, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that accepts and distributes gifts and grants from the private sector to support IMSA’s mission and work.
Her appointment comes at an important time in IMSA’s history, during its 20th Anniversary year. "I am thrilled to join this remarkable organization and to be a part of its next 20 years of success for Illinois," Price said.
Price brings nearly 15 years of comprehensive fund development experience to IMSA, in addition to a solid marketing and alumni relations background and strong track record of political engagement and relationship building. As the director of grants and special projects at North Central College in Naperville, Price prepared and helped secure the largest grant in the history of the college, in addition to increasing public giving by 50% and initiating a million-dollar campaign to support undergraduate research in science.
“We are delighted that Suzyn has agreed to join our community to lead efforts to increase and sustain public and private support for IMSA’s work,” said IMSA President Dr. Stephanie Pace Marshall. “Her leadership comes at an important time as IMSA embarks on a new strategic plan to move us forward into the next decade,” she added.
She also served as a director of development and a manager of donor relations. She has a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s degree in American history from Southern Illinois University.
She serves on the Naperville Board of Education in Naperville CUSD 203 and is a member of the Naperville Education Foundation, the Naperville Chamber of Commerce and also conducts proposal writing seminars to community groups and K-12 educators, students and volunteers.
Price will succeed Catherine C. Veal of Aurora, IL. Veal, who has served as IMSA’s Vice President for Advancement since 2001, now serves as IMSA’s Vice President for Strategy and Results.
The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
