IMSA to Graduate 19th Senior Class

AURORA— The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) will graduate its 19th senior class at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora. Nobel Laureate Dr. Leon Lederman, IMSA resident scholar and Dr. Stephanie Pace Marshall, IMSA founding president, will give the commencement address.
Local-area members of IMSA's 203-member Class of 2007 include: (see below list).
The student speakers are Rhiana Elyse Gunn-Wright of Chicago and Manuel Perez of Cicero. Dr. Stephanie Pace Marshall, IMSA president, and Dr. Luis Nuñez, chairman of the IMSA Board of Directors, will present diplomas and academic medallions to graduates. Because of seating limitations, IMSA's ceremony is not open to the public. Following the ceremony, graduates and their families will join staff members for a reception on campus.
IMSA Principal Eric McLaren said the students are to be commended for their achievements. "Today we celebrate your contributions in the classroom, in our communities and in the world around us," McLaren said. "Today is also a day to thank you and your families for choosing IMSA, and for allowing us to take a part in shaping you, our 'IMSA ambassadors' to the world."
The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 10-12) in its advanced, residential college preparatory program, and it serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry.
