IMSA Lorax Club Wins Governor’s 2008 Green Youth Award
The IMSA Lorax Environmental Club's "IMSA Go Green" project is one of only eight recipients of the Governor’s 2008 Green Youth Award for outstanding and innovative environmental activities. The Governor's Green Youth Award, established by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in 2002, was created to help encourage young people to undertake environmental projects that will make a difference in their communities and our future. Projects must involve one or more of the following categories: waste reduction; prevention or reduction of pollution in the air; land or water; restoration, preservation or enhancement of natural areas; energy or water efficiency.
Lorax student members Amy Allen of Batavia, Mari Crook of Springfield, Hannah Dada of Oak Lawn, Kristen Lee of Arlington Heights, Goki Pillai of Peru, Nobie Redmon of Carterville and Shyam Saladi of Addison, along with IMSA sponsor and English teacher Ms. Audrey Wells of Geneva will be honored at an awards ceremony May 1, 2008 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.
