AURORA-- The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) has scheduled an IMSA Preview Day for Sunday, January 27, 2008. IMSA Preview Day is an opportunity for students, their parents and teachers to learn more about the Academy's academic and residential life programs.
Talented Illinois students enrolled in the equivalent of a ninth grade program are eligible for consideration to IMSA’s three-year (grades 10-12) advanced college preparatory program. IMSA enrolls 650 students who are academically talented and who demonstrate a passion for mathematics and science. All students live on campus. Tuition is provided by state funds however some fees are charged based on family income.
Prospective students and their families can learn about the admissions process, take a student-led tour of the IMSA campus, speak with faculty, sit in on a mock class and meet IMSA staff, parents and alumni. Preview Day also includes a special segment for parents and students interested in IMSA 2008 summer programs for youths in grades three through nine.
The IMSA Preview Day segment showcasing IMSA’s college preparatory program will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and no advance reservations are needed. These are formal events. Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. to take advantage of all offerings. All Preview Day events will take place on IMSA’s campus located at 1500 W. Sullivan Road in Aurora.
The IMSA Preview Day segment showcasing IMSA’s 2008 summer programs will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. During that time, the IMSA Kids Institute® will be presenting “Summer@IMSA Sneak Peek” featuring hands-on science programming for elementary and middle school students and the first opportunity to register for IMSA summer programs.
