Eugene A. Cernan, Capt. USN (Ret.)IMSA Great Minds Program® Community Lecture Wednesday October 1, 2003 at 1:00 pm IMSA Gymnasium For tickets: Reflections on Apollo (Bio) Captain Cernan has made three missions into space as the pilot of Gemini 9 (1966), lunar module pilot aboard Apollo 10 (1969), and commander of Apollo 17 (1972). He is a graduate of Purdue University, the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School, and his autobiography The Last Man on the Moon was published in 1999. He has received numerous honorary degrees, military awards, and civilian honors, ranging from selection to the U.S. Space Hall of Fame to a television Emmy. Today, he is Executive Consultant to SpaceHab, Engineering Services, which has responsibilities to the Space Shuttle, International Space Station and future programs for man to explore the solar system.
