Dr. Robert Pinsky, U.S. Poet Laureate
(1997-2000), was captivating as he read a selection of his favorite
poems - some he has authored and others that have enthralled the
public for many years.
As the thirty-ninth U.S. Poet Laureate, Pinsky was one of the most
visible in the history of the position. In 1997, he started the
Favorite Poem Project

that has recorded and videotaped hundreds of Americans reciting
poems that have deeply intertwined themselves into the reader's
life.
His own book of poems -

Poems 1965-1995 - was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry.
