Mathematics Faculty

Janice L. Krouse, Ed.D., has over 30 years of experience in mathematics education. As a member of the mathematics faculty at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), she has served as Curriculum and Assessment Leader for mathematics, mathematics placement coordinator, Principal’s Office Designee, Curriculum & Assessment Leader Designee, Faculty liaison to the Board of Trustees, summer coursework coordinator, and co-chair for personalized learning plans. In these roles, Dr. Krouse has guided teachers in using collaboration and higher-order thinking in the classroom, instructional strategies, writing in mathematics, and formative assessment. In addition to her full-time teaching duties, Dr. Krouse also serves as the sponsor for IMSA’s chapter of the mathematics honor society, Mu Alpha Theta. Dr. Krouse also provides professional development and curricular support at IMSA and to schools in Illinois and beyond. She has presented numerous times at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics Conferences, as well as at various local conferences and workshops.

Awards and Accolades

Dr. Krouse is a 2025 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching in Illinois State Finalist, a past board member of the Metropolitan Mathematics Club of Chicago (MMC), and has served as President of the Mathematics Department Heads of the Western Chicago Suburbs. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in mathematical sciences from Clemson (SC) University, and a doctorate in mathematics education from the University of Pittsburgh (PA).
