General information: Summer 2026
EXCEL is a three-week pre-enrollment program that focuses on skill development and problem-solving in mathematics, science, and English, as well as residential living. The EXCEL program will be held on IMSA’s campus for three weeks in July for students already accepted to IMSA. The following is information concerning the EXCEL program for the summer of 2026.
- Notifications to students invited to EXCEL will go out by the week of June 1, 2026.
- The program will begin on July 5 with Orientation.
- Classes begin on July 6.
- The program will conclude on July 24 with a closing ceremony.

Forms to complete and return:
- Behavioral Contract – Please return to Manuel Donelson, Attention: EXCEL (due with EXCEL registration form by June 22)
- Health Form – A parent/guardian must complete the online health enrollment form by July 1, 2026. Use this link (or the email you received) to access the August School Parent Portal for health registration. Search your junk or spam folder for ” Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy” or “imsa.augustschools.com” to locate the original email. If you use the link, you will need the phone number or email you used to register for PowerSchool.
- Certification of Health Examination – Each student must have on file a completed Certificate of Child Health Examination Form that includes a complete immunization record and a health history section (signed by parent/guardian). The form must be signed by the medical provider and dated on or after August 15, 2025, in order for your student to move into the residence hall. If you do not have a physical exam that meets this requirement, you may submit your student’s 9th-grade physical (dated 8/15/2024 or later) by July 1, 2026. - Prescription Medications – If the student takes prescription medications, you will also need to submit an Authorization to Administer Prescription Medication Form signed by the prescribing physician, student, and parent. Please remember to bring 3 prescription bottles with the pharmacy label attached to move in. You will need 3 extra bottles for each prescription.
