Bio:
Joe Golab is a member of the Science Faculty and teaches SI Chem, Ad Chem – Structure & Properties, Ad Chem – Chemical Reactions, Engineering, and MSI. He also mentors students in SIR and independent study research. His teaching philosophy is to provide inquiry-based and problem-centered learning experiences that promote scientific habits of mind. Joe is a Molecular Modeling & Simulation expert for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Before IMSA, he gained more than twenty-five years’ experience adding valuable contributions and insights for practical petrochemical problems as a computational scientist. In addition, he taught a graduate level computational chemistry class at IIT for more than ten years. His interests lie on the technical side of science and engineering specifically in applying and developing accurate, quantitative, computational techniques and methods for problems of industrial interest, especially thermochemistry, kinetics, and catalysis. Joe is a contributing author on over 65 refereed journal articles, several book chapters, and one book and has spoken on industrial applications of molecular modeling around the world.
