Three IMSA students have been named in the top 20 innovative high school students in the state by the Celebrating High School Innovators program. Senior Puja Mittal and Sophomores Pranav Upadhyayula and Sushil Upadhyayula will receive $400 each to fund a positive impact project in their community, sponsored by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Puja, Pranav, and Sushil, along with the 17 other 2014-2015 awardees, have been invited to attend a two-day event on May 8-9, 2015, and IMSA will receive a commemorative sign proclaiming the students’ achievement.
“We are proud of these ambitious students, and it’s great to see them recognized and their hard work funded,” said IMSA Chief Innovation Officer Britta McKenna.
The mission of the Celebrating High School Innovators program is to look at ways to include innovation and creative problem solving in the state curriculum, and to recognize innovative students in the state of Illinois. The scholarship is endorsed by the Governor’s Office of the State of Illinois as well as organizations such as the Illinois Principals Association. Short articles will be published on the Celebrating High School Innovators website about each student innovator later in the spring.
