Incoming Sophomore Abinaya Ramakrishnan recently gained recognition from The Daily Herald for her non-profit startup The Muzic Academy, which teaches young, often under-resourced students how to play music at a fraction of the cost of most private lessons.
As President and Co-Founder, Abinaya shares a benevolent and simple mission for her project: "It dawned on me that my lessons are so expensive that my parents had to push me to practice when I was little," she said to the local newspaper. "I always fell back to music because it was always a way to relax and recoup myself. Many people in our community are unable to get that because cost always is a burden."
