IMSA Student Wins Bronze in Elite Math Prize for Girls Olympiad

Junior Joy Qiu won a bronze medal in the 2014 Math Prize for Girls Olympiad, the Advantage Testing Foundation announced on their website in late December. The Math Prize for Girls Olympiad is an elite competition among the 41 top students in the 2014 Math Prize for Girls Competition, a math competition that Joy and fellow junior Emily Jia won Honorable Mention at in late September.

The Math Prize for Girls doles out nearly $50,000 in prize money annually with the stated purpose of “encourage[ing] young women with exceptional potential to “become the mathematical and scientific leaders of tomorrow.” The Math Prize for Girls Olympiad is a proof-based competition that consist of 4 problems, each worth 7 points.
