Senior Emily Mu Selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars Semifinalist

3659020_g.jpgEmily Mu of IMSA's Class of 2015 was selected as a semifinalist for the 2015 U.S. Presidential Scholars competition, which placed her in the top 20 students in Illinois, and among 565 semifinalists chosen from the 4,300 students who applied. Students must be invited to apply, either by scoring highly on the ACT/SAT or through nomination by a Chief State School Officer.

Emily has had a stellar history in science and math competitions at IMSA; she has won $500 and an all expense paid trip to Baltimore through the National "Who Wants to be a Mathematician" contest, she was a semifinalist in the 2014 Siemens Competition, her team won $1,000 and an honorable mention in the 2015 Moody's Mega Math Challenge, her team qualified for the national championship game in Interstellar online math competition, she was a 2013-2014 National Honors Society Inductee, and was a part of the IMSA team that placed 15th in the nation at the Harvard-MIT Mathematics Tournament.
