Biography

Ms. Rebecca Martinez O’Mara is a strategy oriented executive skilled at asking the right questions and encouraging dialogue to ensure that the collective experience, wisdom, and brainpower in the Board Room or C-Suite is accessed so the best choices are made for the organization.

As a global operating executive, she is a visionary profit and loss (P&L) leader with a track record of driving double-digit, profitable growth and transforming publicly held and private equity owned companies / business units. Rebecca has a proven ability to develop a vision and strategy then translate it into reality through disciplined execution.

Rebecca currently serves as a Corporate Director on two, privately held, Grundfos Holdings A/S regional Boards including Grundfos Pump Corp., (Americas) and Grundfos Water Utility Corp. She is appointed a Board Trustee for the Illinois Math and Science Academy, by JP Pritzker, Governor, State of Illinois.

Currently, Rebecca serves as Vice President of Service & Solutions at Grundfos, the largest pump manufacturer in the world. In this role, she led the successful carve-out of a new Service & Solutions performance unit, which experienced double-digit growth in its first year under her leadership. Rebecca successfully implemented the company’s first remote monitoring / machine health service offering.

Prior to her current role, Rebecca was Vice President at Sullair, a private equity owned, industrial air compressor manufacturer. She was responsible for a $200 million P&L and created a new, profitable business segment that grew to $30 million in revenue in 3 years. It remains one of the company’s most popular product lines.

In a previous role, Rebecca was based in Torino, Italy and served as a Business Development Director with the Fiat Group. With project sponsorship from the CEO, Sergio Marchionne, she led a global team to develop new service offerings. She was also selected to serve on the Fiat-Chrysler integration team.

Prior to her role at Fiat, Rebecca was the Director of Global Business Development for Caterpillar. She started her career at AT&T (formerly Ameritech) where she spent over 10 years in various positions including marketing, operations and public policy.

Throughout her career, Rebecca has been a champion for diversity and has served as founder / president of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at Caterpillar and Ameritech. She is a National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) Fellow, and she is also a Chicago United Business Leaders of Color Honoree.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an Executive M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
