Vital Signs, Metro East (Grades 7-8)

Is there a doctor in the house? This program provides budding medical students a general understanding of human anatomy through hands-on explorations of the heart, blood, skin, bones and muscles! Participants will perform a (sheep) hearts dissection, practice suturing, explore the physics of blood flow, and much more. They will also engage in a fun and challenging bioengineering project that will allow them to apply engineering principles and practices to the structure and function of the human body.

This program is for students entering grades 7-8 in fall 2018.

Need-based scholarships* are available!   Online scholarship applications open February 20, 2018.  Scholarship recipients will be responsible for a $30 administrative fee.  To be eligible for a scholarship to attend IMSA’s Metro-East area summer programs, the participant must meet at least one of the following conditions:
  • Family military affiliation
  • Participant resides in the Metro-east Region
  • Adjusted gross income from your 2016 or 2017 federal or state tax return, OR evidence of participation or qualification for either the SNAP program or the Free and Reduced Lunch program
Priority will be given to students who meet all 3 criteria first, and those who meet 2 criteria second.

*Applying for a scholarship does not guarantee an award or registration into the summer program.  WATCH YOUR EMAIL and CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER! Award recipients will be notified via email and must reply to scholarship offer within time period indicated in email. NOTE: You may choose to either pay for program registration OR apply for a scholarship and await award notification.  Scholarship applications will not be accepted along with a paid registration.

Refund Policy

Please choose your programs carefully. For residential programs, full refunds (less a $30 processing fee) will be given for requests received by March 31, 2018. After this date through April 30, 2018, a partial refund (50%) will be provided for residential programs. No refund requests for residential programs received after April 30, 2018 will be honored. For day programs, full refunds (less a $30 processing fee) will be provided for requests received through April 30.  After this date through May 31, 2018, a partial refund (50%) will be provided. No refund requests for day programs received after May 31 will be honored. ALL requests for refunds must be made in writing. You can direct requests by email to studentenrichment@imsa.edu. Please include the program name and date, your child’s name, and your name. Phone call requests for refunds will not be accepted.
