The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 10-12) in its advanced, residential, college preparatory program. It also serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry.
As a state-funded institution, IMSA’s comprehensive employment benefits are provided by the State of Illinois. Retirement benefits are provided through the State Universities Retirement System of Illinois (SURS). The package offers:

Prescription Drug Plan
Prescription medication coverage is provided though the health plan’s Prescription Benefit Manager. Benefits include reasonable co-pays, pharmacy options and a maintenance medication mail service.
Flexible Spending Account Program
State employees are able to save money by taking advantage of several pre-tax programs. Options include flexible spending accounts (FSA), commuter savings program and the Deferred Compensation Plan. ConnectYourCare provides services for medical and dependent care flexible spending programs. Commuter Check Direct provides services for the commuter savings program.
The state of Illinois provides one times an employees annualized salary in term life insurance at not cost to the employee. There is the ability to purchase, at reasonable rates, an additional eight times the annualized salary as well as dependent and spousal insurance. Services provided by Minnesota Life.
Behavioral Health Program
The behavioral health benefit can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services are available for all employees enrolled in a health plan. QCHP enrollees EAP benefits are provided through Magellan.
SURS Retirement Plans
State University Retirement System (SURS) administers IMSA’s retirement plan. Employees have several options to choose from including traditional, portable, and self-managed plans. SURS is reciprocal with other state retirement systems such as TRS and IMRF.
