Alumni Weekend a Time to Celebrate

IMSA Alumni Weekend this year included reunions for the Classes of 1992, 1997, 2002 and 2007, as well as events to honor and recognize outstanding alumni achievements and volunteerism.

Alumni volunteers for the 2011-12 academic year were recognized for their support at the Board of Trustees Alumni Awards Ceremony and Alumni Volunteer Recognition Dinner held during Alumni Weekend July 20-21, 2012.  For information on these and other IMSA Alumni Association (IAA) events, visit www.imsaalumniorg.

The 2011-12 academic year was another outstanding year for alumni volunteerism with more than 200 alumni, representing every class year at IMSA, generously sharing their time and talents with the IMSA community.

IMSA Director of the Annual Fund and Alumni Engagement Carolyn Johnson said as volunteers, alumni supported many aspects of the academic and residential program at the Academy, as well as statewide professional development programs for Illinois teachers and enrichment programs for other Illinois students.  In addition, alumni are also members of the IMSA Board of Trustees and the IMSA Fund Board of Directors, and provide strategic counsel to administrative and program leaders, and Admissions Student Review Committee.

"Alumni bring a wealth of experience when they 'give back' to IMSA.  The way they look at the world and reflect on their experience at the Academy helps administration, faculty and staff enhance IMA's classrooms and programs and genuinely helps as we continue to make a difference in the state and world," Johnson said.
