IMSA Alumni Weekend this year will include reunions for the Classes of 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006, as well as events to honor and recognize outstanding alumni achievements and volunteerism.
The 2010-11 academic year was a record-breaking one for alumni volunteerism with 201 alumni, representing every class year at IMSA, generously sharing their time and talents with the IMSA community.
IMSA Coordinator of Alumni Engagement Carolyn Johnson said as volunteers, alumni supported many aspects of the academic and residential program at the Academy, as well as statewide professional development programs for Illinois teachers and enrichment programs for other Illinois students. In addition, alumni also provide strategic counsel to the IMSA Board of Trustees, the IMSA Fund Board of Directors, administrative and program leaders, and Admissions Student Review Committee.
"Alumni bring a wealth of experience when they 'give back' to IMSA. The way they look at the world and reflect on their experience at the Academy helps administration, faculty and staff enhance IMA's classrooms and programs and genuinely helps as we continue to make a difference in the state and world," Johnson said.
"This year's alumni association (IAA) leaders not only worked diligently to continue existing opportunities for alumni involvement, including Intersession and Admissions support, but also created new ways for alumni to engage with the Academy, including the Alumni Big Siblings program and Career Forums," she added.
Alumni volunteers for the 2010-11 academic year will be recognized for their support at the Board of Trustees Alumni Awards Ceremony and Alumni Volunteer Recognition Dinner held during Alumni Weekend July 22-24, 2011.
