For the sixth year, IMSA’s Information Resource Center and student volunteers coordinated and hosted IMSA Community Family Reading Night for area elementary school students and their families. This year’s theme was “Reading Around the World!”

IMSA Mathematics Faculty Member Dr. Don Porzio of Batavia recently began his two-year term as President of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) following his election by members of the state organization.

IMSA sophomore Ethan Bian of Bloomington was named one of only 13 finalists from more than 150 high school teams nationwide in the Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW) High School Cyber Forensics Challenge at Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly).

IMSA Science Teacher Dr. Megan Schrementi was nominated by her colleagues and was recently recognized as a new teacher of the year at the Illinois Science Teachers Association (ISTA) conference held in October.

Three IMSA seniors have been selected as 2011-12 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars (NHRP), an important academic award that identifies outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.

IMSA recently inducted 32 students from throughout Illinois into its chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS).

Five IMSA seniors have qualified as semifinalists in the 2012 National Achievement® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for African-American high school students.

IMSA recently recognized its 52 semifinalists in the 2012 National Merit® Scholarship Program. The semifinalists represent 36 communities throughout Illinois.

The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy welcomed 224 Illinois students as members of its sophomore class, the Class of 2014

City of Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner commemorated IMSA's 25th birthday with an official proclamation, naming September 7, 2011 as "Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Day."
