IMSA Community Mourns Loss of Student

The IMSA community is mourning the death of IMSA Junior Brittany Burash of Grand Ridge, Illinois.

Brittany, the daughter of Cindy and Andrew Burash, died August 15, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  She is survived by her parents and IMSA alumni Jessica Burash '10 and Amber (Burash) Sharp '01.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Burash family and to Brittany's friends at this very difficult time," said IMSA Principal and Vice President for Academic Programs Dr. Eric G. McLaren.  "Many of Brittany's classmates will be arriving back at the IMSA campus this week and we will be providing extra support for those who need help working through the grieving process," Dr. McLaren added. 

While at IMSA, Brittany was a member of the softball team and participated in choir.

The services for Brittany Burash will take place on Thursday and Friday in Ottawa, Illinois. The visitation is Thursday evening August 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Funeral Home, located at 1111 LaSalle Street in Ottawa. The funeral Mass will occur on Friday at noon at St. Columba Church, 122 West Washington Street, Ottawa.
