IMSA Charter Class of 1989 graduate and U.S. Navy Reserve Chief Petty Officer Ron McKenzie was the guest speaker at IMSA’s Veterans Day Program on November 11, 2010.
McKenzie ‘89 serves as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy (Reserves) at Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, Colorado. Since 9/11, he has been recalled to active duty three times and twice deployed to Iraq in support of Iraqi Freedom. During his first assignment in Iraq, he served as a technical intelligence specialist supporting a joint special operations task force. His last tour, ending in August 2010, was at United States Forces – Iraq Headquarters, Baghdad where he managed SIGINT (signals intelligence) requirements for the Iraqi Theater of Operations and then served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance directorate.
In his civilian capacity, McKenzie works at Northrop Grumman as a data and systems analyst specializing in geolocation where he uses mathematical modeling and statistical analysis to assess system performance in support of classified Department of Defense programs.
