During his visit, Congressman Hultgren visited IMSA mathematics and humanities classes, which included guest lectures in Modern Theater taught by Ms. Peg Cain, Mathematical Investigations III taught by Dr. Steve Condie, and The World in the Twentieth Century, taught by Dr. Lee Eysturlid. In addition, Congressman Hultgren discussed research and educational experiences with students from his district during lunch.
“IMSA was honored to host Congressman Hultgren, and students and staff alike were impressed with his continuing commitment to STEM education,” said IMSA President Dr. Glenn W. “Max” McGee.
“His support for both STEM and IMSA was shown during his tenure in the Illinois General Assembly, and most recently, he recognized IMSA’s 25th Anniversary from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. We are proud to have such a strong advocate for STEM at the federal level.”
Congressman Hultgren was the second federal legislator to visit IMSA this year for an SCIA event. SCIA has also hosted more than 20 state legislators in this academic year.
IMSA Legislative Director Dr. Purva Rushi contributed to this story.
