IMSA is holding two upcoming events focusing on the importance of entrepreneurial innovation in the modern world.
The first on February 25th features newly-appointed Match.com CEO and IMSA Class of 1995 graduate Sam Yagan presenting The Need for Irrational Entrepreneurship as part of the IMSA Great Minds Program®. Yagan, who was named in Billboard Magazine’s “Top 30 Executives Under 30” list, co-founded OKCupid, Sparknotes, and most recently Excelerate Labs. Excelerate Labs is an intensive summer accelerator program for 10 companies chosen every spring located within 1871, a Chicago non-profit that fosters the development of digital startups. within the IMSA community
On March 5th the annual IMSA TALENT Power Pitch will showcase Illinois high school students pitching their prospective businesses to judges and attendees to compete for cash prizes. Power Pitch is the culmination of the IMSA TALENT (Total Applied Learning for Entrepreneurs) program, which provides on-campus, off-campus, and virtual teaching and guidance to entrepreneurial students at IMSA and throughout Chicago. Power Pitch will be held in collaboration with the MIT Enterprise Forum at the Emmi Solutions on 300 W. Adams. You can attend the prelims, which will be held at 1871 labs on February 26th, or buy a ticket to attend the March 5th finals at Emmi Solutions.
