A member of the Board of Trustees since 2005, Samuel Dyson is a physics teacher at Walter Payton College Prep High School in Chicago. He is a 2007 recipient of the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching (grades 9 through 12), one of only 10 teachers given this exceptional honor from over 800 Chicagoland teachers who were nominated. Dyson earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Yale University and a master’s degree in education from Harvard University. He has taught science in South Africa, leads a student exchange program with South Africa and teaches a seminar in Zulu language at Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago. Dyson has also has been an instructor and facilitator in the Alternative Certification program at Northwestern University.
