Biography
My name is Rosa Zarate and I am excited to be the counseling intern at IMSA for the 2022-2023 school year! I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M International University and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in school counseling and Licensed Professional Counselor licensure at Lewis University.
I decided to pursue school counseling as a career because I love working with kids, and I would love to be the kind of person I needed as a teenager for my future students. High school is a special yet often difficult time and I want to provide guidance and support to students so that they can enjoy their teenage years and also help them succeed and achieve their goals. As a first-generation American and first-generation college student, I am sensitive to the struggles that students with similar backgrounds face.
I was born in Aurora, IL and this is where most of my family has lived since migrating from Mexico (father’s side) and El Salvador (mother’s side). I attended Greenman Elementary and then moved to south Texas with my parents and younger sister where I completed middle, high school, and college. I moved back home in 2018. When I have free time I enjoy crafting and making things like paper flowers, banners, and decorations. I also love to watch TV and go for walks in nature with my family and two dogs, Pancho and Dobby!
