General Information for IMSA Faculty and Staff

  • IMSA’s physical campus will be closed on Friday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. until further notice
  • Online learning is scheduled to begin Thursday, March 26
  • No out-of-state business travel will be allowed during the closure.
  • Please practice social distancing and self-quarantine regardless of your travel location. Please keep social outings, errand trips and exposure to public places at a minimum to limit exposure from a public health perspective.
  • As necessary, please email ITS helpdesk to set up VPN if you have not already.
  • Check email and the IMSA website frequently for latest information/communication

Frequently Asked Questions: Resident Counselors

  • Can I have visitors during the time that the school is closed? 
      • RCs may have visitors in their apartments. All employees, including resident counselors, should practice social distancing. We recommend that RCs limit visitors and take all necessary precautions to stay safe and healthy.
  • Can I order food for delivery during the time that the school is closed? 
      • Yes, you can order food for delivery during the closure. Please use precautions when interacting with delivery drivers. It is recommended that you obtain your delivered items outside of the building and not allow delivery personnel into the residence hall.
  • Will I have access to the main building during the closure?
    • Staff will have access to the main building March 23-25 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. only through the main entrance to complete essential tasks or retrieve essential items. Everyone must enter through the main entrance of the building, and  sign in and out at the front desk with security. Contact Katie if you need to access the building outside of these dates.

  • Will I have access to the main building to film in labs or my classroom?
      • Faculty will have access to the main building March 23-25 only through the main entrance to film labs, gather materials or hold meetings from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Everyone must enter through the main entrance of the building, and  sign in and out at the front desk with security. Contact Bob if you need to access the building outside of these dates.
  • How long will I need to plan for online teaching?
      • Online teaching will start Thursday, March 26 and resume for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester.
  • When will the IMSA campus reopen?
    • The IMSA campus will remain closed until further notice.

Frequently Asked Questions: Staff

  • Am I supposed to work from home during the closure? 
      • Everyone that can work from home is expected to, starting Monday, March 16.
  • Will this closure affect my paycheck?
      • IMSA employees scheduled to work will be paid their regular hours during this work from home time.
  • How do I record this on my timesheet?
      • Everyone must still submit their timesheets as usual. Hourly employees will still be paid for the hours that they are regularly paid. No overtime will be permitted.
  • What if I cannot work 40 hours a week home due to lack of projects/tasks?
    • If you are unable to work your regular hours because of a lack of projects or tasks, please notify your supervisor and mark hours as unscheduled closure to make up the time. Essential employees will be notified by their cabinet members of the days they may be required to be on campus from 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
