Day of Service
On August 23rd, the Class of 2020 participated in IMSA's annual Day of Service. This event kicks off the school year by introducing the sophomore class to IMSA's Service Learning Program, and allows them to see the opportunities for service in the Aurora community. On this day, 250 students and 23 staff members partnered with the Fox Valley Park District to complete over 540 hours of service at six different Park District sites in Aurora. Students aided the Park District staff in removing invasive plant species, planting native species, cleaning playgrounds, and restoring local trails.
We will continue the tradition of giving back to the community through Day of Service with the class of 2021 on August 22, 2019. Students should be prepared for a day of fun and learning about sustainability and preservation of local habitats and parks. Please plan on wearing long pants and closed-toed shoes. Sunscreen, bugspray, and water will be provided.
