Grades 3-4
Get ready for some high-flying fun! Young scientists will investigate the mechanics behind aerospace engineering through an exploration of Isaac Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion. What does it take to launch a rocket? Participants will figure it out as they design and launch their own creations.

Grades 5-6
3-2-1-LAUNCH! Student Engineers will investigate the four forces of flight (thrust, drag, lift, and gravity) and Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion, through hands on explorations. In addition, participants will design and engineer their own flying object. Finally, these young scientists will explore the variables involved in launching their objects.

It IS Easy as Pi! FUNshop

Grades 3-4
Investigate the most useful irrational number, Pi! Through hands-on activities participants will explore mathematics concepts such as size, shape, circumference, diameter, and fractions, discovering along the way that math can be as easy as Pi! No matter which way you ‘slice it’ this Pi will leave students ‘hungry’ for more!

Grades 5-6
Can your student have their Pi and do math with it, too? Let’s find out in this set of computational lessons centering on our favorite irrational number, Pi.  Through a series of mathematical investigations involving geometry, students will get practical knowledge about a number that is not only a useful tool but is quite an enigma!
