The 650 diverse students enrolled in IMSA’s three-year residential program participate in a unique inquiry-based approach to learning, conducting high-level research at institutions such as Fermilab, and are highly sought after by the nation’s most selective colleges and universities.

IMSA teams received the highest ranking possible in the 13th annual International High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling (HiMCM). Their performance placed IMSA among the top seven schools in the world in last year's competition.
Student Inquiry and Research at IMSA is one of only 18 science education models in the nation to be included in the National Science Teachers Association book, 3Inquiry: The Key to Exemplary Science. Chapter four of the book, "Student Inquiry and Research: Developing Students' Authentic Inquiry Skills," features IMSA's inquiry-based program.
