Operation ID

The IMSA Security Department maintains engravers for the purpose of engraving student and staff property. Students or staff need to contact a Security Supervisor and arrange a time and place to have the property engraved. This process will permanently identify the item of property as that of the person. We also recommend that the student then make a list of all of their valuables by serial number and value. This list can be kept by the student, and copies should be given to their Resident Counselor and parents. This will prove valuable should one of these items become lost or stolen.

Fire Safety

If you discover or suspect a fire:

  1. Contact an R.C. in the building. If an alarm fails to operate, warn the other occupants by knocking on doors and shouting a warning.
  2. Call the Department of Security. Give as much information as possible to the Officer. Don't assume that someone else has called. Security will notify the Fire Department and give the address location of the building.
  3. Leave the building immediately. When Firefighters arrive, direct them to the fire.

In the event of fire:

Reporting Crime

It is very important that all crimes and incidents are reported to the Security Department and a Resident Counselor. When we are aware of incidents and trends we are able to work with in-house resources to take appropriate steps to stop the problem. When we are not able to handle the problem in-house , we have a strong working relationship with the Aurora Police, State's Attorneys Office, Kane County Sheriff's Department, Illinois State Police, and an entire network of other agencies who will assist us with the problem.
