Music lovers will love this week of exploring topics in STEM through music. Students will learn about the science of sound, how we interact with it and how we organize it into something we consider to be music. Specifically, students will explore various aspects of frequency and sound; especially in relation to musical instruments, such as the harmonica that they will test and study. Students will build simple reed instruments as well as electronic instruments. Students will ponder what makes certain organized sounds “music”, how one might best learn to play an instrument, and how to manipulate materials to produce or engineer certain sounds.
